Wanted to kick off my first post here with something close to my heart. It’s a little late now as it’s just over a week old, but hey, better late than never.
Loving the look and feel of Rogue One from this final trailer and if I wasn’t excited before, I sure as hell am now.
A lot of people seem to have taken issue with the fact that this film MAY not have the title scroll that the other Star Wars films have, but honestly, what’s it going to have – episode 3.5? Fuck off. I am totally fine with this setting up it’s own tone and feel.
There’s so much in this film that will link it to that Star Wars we all know and love and so little to whinge about here. The filmmakers have gone all out to make the film’s setting (just prior to the Battle of Yavin, the happenings in Episde IV: A New Hope) feel like it’s a SLIGHTLY devolved version of the Empire, Rebellion and Universe that we have met before (despite the HD camera work undoubtedly making the technology/feel of the film seem “newer” than A New Hope).
There’s a whole tonne of “things you may have missed in the Rogue One Trailer” videos out there already, so I am not going to go into those things, but to be honest, this could actually be the most truly new and daring thing that the Star Wars Franchise has done so far since 1983. A vastly different approach and feel, no George Lucas, no direct Skywalker family story (other than Vader here, though I doubt we’ll get much that we don’t already know here).
Will 100% be at the midnight screening. But I knew that last year.
